Aunt Sis                           Aunt Lula                            Momma Nell                      Aunt Margaret                  Aunt Evelyn                         Aunt Josephine.
These six women have made impacts in my life in their own way.
Aunt Sis I never met her but I have been told I have her spunk and her fight attitude
Aunt Lula her cooking is in all of us even if she didn’t try to put it in us
Momma Nell is who I got my sense of family from her daughter patsy has it too
Aunt Margaret well she gave me my cousin Nikki (thru nikki’s mom of course) but she loved my mother’s children dearly
Aunt Evelyn had that softeness that my mommy has I loved her dearly and she was flirtatious (sp) and finally
Aunt Josephine our relationship grows I don’t talk to her often but I do call her.  I have to do that more but I love her just the same.  She has inspired me to keep going with what I am doing.  She is the only aunt left now…ok whew didn’t know it would be emotional too

{January 31, 2012}   Introducing My Mommy!!!!

As promised for Black History month I am honoring the people that have influenced me in one way or the other. I start my honoring with the one and only Juanita Yeldell.

This woman is a part of why I breathe everyday she made my childhood the best anyone could ever have.  I am more than blessed that she is still very much apart of my adult life. I try to talk to her every single day without fail. My mom made a home for my friends outside of their own homes.  She was a second mom not only to my friends but my brother and sister’s friends as well.  She is one of two aunts left out of seven girls in our her family.  My mom is affectionately called nama.  That name was originally started by her first grandson because she was no ones grandma.  She is spry and hip and could easily go three months and not where the same dress or suit to church with in that time period.  I think it is safe for me to say that all of my friends thought of her as a second mom just as I thought of their moms the same way.

She may have biologically had four children but in life she has hundreds.  I LOVE MY MOMMY!!!!!!

Black History month is fast approaching so I have decided to honor those that have made an impact to my life. I thought of doing this because within the month of February my grandparents will be honored in their hometown paper.  The things that I have written about my family and the journey learning about my family will be published along with pictures of my grandparents and the first six yeldells that were born in Edgefield SC in the oldest paper in South Carolina the Edgefield Advertiser.  I am so excited and can’t wait to see the first article.

In the beginning I thought it was just my grandparents whose story would be told but recognize it is in fact the core thirteen story as well.  It made me realize had it not been for my family and the interest that I have in them this would never have happened.  so I have decided to honor all who have made some type of impact in my life for Black History Month and what better people to honor than my family. Starting today (because my family is huge) I will honor someone in my family in the morning and then again in the afternoon with a picture and something about them and their impact in my life.  In doing this it will be a chance for my family to get to know those they only by name and allow the yeldells that we are meeting on facebook and through this blog to get to know their possible family members.  Understand this will post on facebook too so some may read it more than once and the writing style maybe directed towards those friends on my page than you here in the blog but I will do my best to accomodate both audiences.

{January 28, 2012}   A New Day

Good Morning, Good Afternoon, Good Evening,

This morning I woke with a new perspective, a look at what I needed to do and the enthusiasm of pushing forward to do so.  The first and most important thing is to join a church not just any church but Springfield Baptist church.  See my family founded a Springfield Baptist church back in the late 1930s.  If you have been reading my blog it is possible that they actually founded two churches.  One in Edgefield SC and one in Washington DC.  I plan on doing that this year.  Everyday I feel a change in me something that I have never felt before.  My mom says it is because I pray every morning but I have always prayed.  I am not sure what it is but I am accepting it and all that comes with it.

I haven’t posted in a while not because I don’t have new information but because I have been overwhelmed with alot of information.  I was blessed to do what I set out to do when starting this blog which was find my grandfather’s siblings.  Well so far I have found two and have learned that the Yeldells are really large.  I was able to connect Yeldells on facebook to my family people I have never met before.  I am nowhere near finished.  I learned that in order to connect my family I also need to bring my family together.  I promised GOD that I would pray them back together and I will continue to do that.

Since my blessings I have to get more into my family and I will do that.  I will post here more often so If you are a Yeldell and trying to see if we are related just keep reading I will find out.  Stay tuned.
